The Buzz of July: Bees and Blackberries in Full Bloom

A Young Beekeeper’s First Experience

Our little beekeeper had her first experience beside the hive this July. She is always so inquisitive and loves especially when we extract (think shes eats her weight in honey), and gives us her verdict before we jar. She was so excited to be close to the hive and see the colony at work. I think she loved seeing the young bees emerging from their cells and their dancing most of all.

As July comes the bees will start to turn their efforts into winter survival, producing bountiful crops of honey to see them through the winter. Our bees have been so hard at work, producing probably our best summer harvest yet. This year has been partially good for the blackberries, they have flowered really well, giving the bees a great nectar flow.

We will also be at the Ebrington Fete this Saturday 11th 2-5pm so if your in the area pop by and say hello
